Where Curiosity Leads

A play-based preschool in Lexington, MA.

A play-based preschool in the heart of Lexington, serving children 15 months to 5 years. Since 1984, we've been a place where children become good friends, creative risk-takers, and confident learners.

Why Families Choose LPC

40 years of play-based learning

LPC has followed the same emergent, interest-led curriculum since 1984. When children lead their own learning through play, they build problem-solving, creativity, and independence that packaged curricula rarely reach.

Teachers who stay 10, 20, 30+ years

Sandy has been here since we opened in 1984. Casey since 1993. Talia since 1999. Low turnover means your child builds lasting relationships with caregivers who truly know them.

A real backyard, not a parking-lot installation

Our nature-inspired playground has a hobbit house, apple trees, a trike path, tunnels, movable logs, and blueberry bushes. The woods-in-your-backyard play most Lexington kids don’t have.

"They loved my kids as if they were theirs, and supported and celebrated their very different personalities."

Toddlers playing together on the LPC playground

Toddlers

15 months – 2 years 9 months · 1 teacher per 3 – 4 children ratio · 3 classrooms

Classes run at 1:3 or 1:4 — at or better than the Massachusetts EEC minimum of 1:4. That means more lap time, more single-adult attention, and fewer transitions when a child needs a grown-up they already know. Our youngest learners explore through sensory play, music, art, and outdoor discovery.

Preschoolers on the LPC nature playground

Preschool

2 years 9 months – 5 years · 1 teacher per 5 children ratio · 3 classrooms

Classes run at 1:5 — half the Massachusetts EEC maximum of 1:10. Fewer transitions, more one-on-one time with teachers who know your child’s name, quirks, and current obsession. Our emergent curriculum follows that knowledge; through projects, art, storytelling, and outdoor exploration, preschoolers build the habits they’ll carry into kindergarten.

The People Who Make LPC Home

Sandy has been here since 1984. Casey since 1993. Talia since 1999. Low turnover isn't an accident.
