Karen brings over 15 years of experience as a Preschool Director. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Salem State University and is a dedicated advocate for play-based learning. Karen believes that a successful play-based program should be child-led, fostering curiosity, independence, and a love of learning. Outside of her professional work, Karen enjoys spending time with her four grown children, as well as kayaking, hiking, and reading.

Kaz is an LPC alumna. Yes, she actually attended LPC as a toddler and preschooler! She studied at Mount Ida College and University of Massachusetts/Boston, and joined the LPC family as a full time teacher in 2011. “Watching a group of kids come together as a community who love and support each other is a beautiful thing!” For fun, Kaz enjoys dancing and teaches hip-hop and ballet to middle and high school students.

Cheryl came to LPC in September of 1993. She has an Associates Degree in Legal Secretarial from Fisher Junior College and four years experience in a software sales office (which helped her decide that the high tech world was not for her). She is married to a terrific guy, Bill, and has two wonderful kids, Taylor and Cameron (both LPC alums). She loves to read, spend time at the ocean, watch the Patriots, and hang out with her family and friends. “What a treat to come to work each day and know that you are with people who truly care about what they do.”

Sandy earned her Master’s Degree in Family Studies from Wheelock College. She joined Lexington Playcare Center when the school first opened in 1984, worked here for ten years as a preschool teacher, then left to raise her own children. Now that her son and daughter are older, she’s back! “I love my job! I love hearing the kids’ thoughts, their stories, and encouraging their imagination.” Outside of LPC, she is also a soccer coach, skier and loves spending time with her family.

Casey started working at LPC as a high school assistant in 1993. She enjoyed the children so much that she made early childhood education her career! Casey grew up in Lexington and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood from Eastern Nazarene College. “I love watching how excited children are to discover and learn and make new friends!” Casey enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful little girls (LPC alums), and she loves scrapbooking, cooking, listening to music and making lollycakes.

Christina joined the LPC team in August 2015. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Fitchburg State College and taught preschool for 5 years before coming to LPC. “Working with children has given me the opportunity to see the world in a different way. I see them strive to overcome obstacles and persevere, and learn to persevere myself. They are my inspiration!” In her free time she enjoys relaxing at the beach, camping, cheering for the Patriots, and watching her brother play baseball for the Lexington Blue Sox.

Yun began working at LPC in October 2018. She grew up in Lanzhou, China, and has been in the US since 2010. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and English Linguistics, a Master’s Degree in English Linguistics, and has enjoyed teaching infants, toddlers and preschoolers here in the US since arriving here.

Kris came to LPC in October 2024. She grew up in Gladwyne, PA and received her BS in Marketing. She has worked in the book publishing industry and in Higher Education, but left the workforce to raise her family. Once her children were grown, she decided to pursue her true passion — early childhood education. Kris enjoys working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and believes that the best way to learn is through play. A favorite quote is from Fred Rogers — “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is learning. Play really is the work of childhood.” Kris enjoys reading, cooking, fishing, painting, and spending time with family and friends, especially her three children!

Kelly has been working at LPC since August of 2004 and she loves it! She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Bay Path University. She began at LPC as a toddler teacher, moved across the hall to work with preschoolers for a few years, and is now back to working with the little ones! “Kids have such an innocence and pure excitement for learning — I love that! And their brains go constantly!” She enjoys spending time with her large family and when she’s not with them, you can find her reading a book, watching a movie or screaming her head off at any Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox or Patriots Game!

Talia began working at LPC in October of 1999. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Regis College and knew teaching young children and helping to shape their lives is what she always wanted to do. She uses hands-on skill, humor and draws on her experiences as a mother (her son is an LPC alum!) each day in her classroom. “Every day brings an unexpected joy — just a smile or a hug from a child really warms up my day!” When she’s not at LPC, Talia enjoys skiing, running, traveling and spending time with her family at their house in Maine.

Alyssa started at LPC in the summer of 2016. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UMass Lowell and had six previous years of experience working with both toddlers and preschoolers. She was very excited to join the LPC family! “I love being that person who is consistent in a child’s life — helping them to learn and grow and try new things.” In her free time Alyssa coaches high school cheerleading. She also enjoys relaxing at the beach, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Makayla joined LPC in April 2022. She has an AA in Liberal Arts & Sciences and has been working in early childhood for almost 8 years. She is currently enrolled in additional classes and is excited to continue her education in a field she’s passionate about! “I love watching children explore and seeing the pride they feel when they accomplish new things!” In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, her dog and she really loves traveling and seeing new things.

Shannon joined LPC in July 2021! She studied at Fitchburg State University and has been working in childcare since 2016. She first started as an infant teacher — a year later she joined the toddler team and has been a toddler teacher ever since! “Working with young children is my passion. Watching them learn through play is such a rewarding experience. I truly would not want any other job!” In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, and chasing sunsets!

Lauren started at LPC in August 2021. She has been working with children from infants through school age going on six years. “I enjoy watching children make everyday discoveries and the spark in their eyes when they make connections. I love coming to work and hearing a tiny voice say ‘hi!’” She is currently studying Marine Biology and Sustainable Aquaculture from Unity College and in her spare time enjoys traveling, time at the ocean, cooking, reading, and cuddling her pug.

Rosie joined LPC in October 2022. She earned her Bachelors degree in English from UMass Lowell while volunteering at Murkland Elementary School where her father worked, and fell in love with teaching children. She has four years of experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. “Seeing children learn while having fun will always be my favorite part of working with kids!” In her free time, Rosie enjoys creating art, playing guitar, and reading all the books she can get her hands on!

Kristin joined the LPC team in the summer of 2015. Her own early education teacher was an inspiration to her and she knew she wanted to be the same for the kids in her care. Kristin had studied nursing in hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse and in doing so realized her true passion was interacting with children and brightening their days. She went on to earn her degree in Psychology from Salem State University. She draws inspiration from the words of Haim Ginott — “Children are like wet cement, whatever falls on them makes an impression.” When Kristin is not at work she devotes her time to fun and games with her young daughter and son.
